Martin, TN — May 8, 2025 — The Martin Event Center buzzed with creativity and collaboration as local entrepreneurs, small business owners, and aspiring designers gathered for Canva Made Simple, a hands-on workshop led by social media expert and small business consultant Elizabeth Pritchett.

Hosted by The Mill Workspace in partnership with the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce and the Tennessee Small Business Development Center [TSBDC], the workshop was designed to give beginners the tools and confidence to create eye-catching graphics using Canva—a popular online design platform.

The 90-minute session provided attendees with a comprehensive introduction to the platform’s capabilities, from crafting professional social media posts to designing presentations and promotional materials. The Weakley County workshop provided Martin resident Elizabeth Pritchett an opportunity to help attendees learn the ins and outs of the Canva platform in her hometown.

Attendees provided positive reviews of the experience. One participant shared, “It was very well presented and for a beginner like me to follow—thank you.” Another praised the workshop for being “very personable and interactive, with all questions answered.” A third commented, “Very informative. I learned how to get more out of my Canva Pro subscription.”

The event was part of a broader initiative to support local businesses and enhance digital skills in the community. Sponsored by The Mill Workspace, the TSBDC, and the Weakley County Chamber, the workshop emphasized not only technical know-how but also the importance of visual branding in today’s digital landscape. Providing  more than just a class, the workshop was a catalyst for creative empowerment in Weakley County.

Erica Moore, director of the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce stated, "Offering learning opportunities like the Canva Made Simple training is one of the ways we bring real value to our Weakley Chamber members. Mrs. Landy Fuqua, through her leadership at the Tennessee Small Business Development Center and UT Martin's REED Center, represents one of our region’s top small business resources. Partnering with her and The Mill—a hub for supporting entrepreneurs and fueling economic growth in Northwest Tennessee—helps us work as a team to equip local small business owners with the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive."

Landy Fuqua, director of the TSBDC stated, "Elizabeth Pritchett always delivers an outstanding training experience. I have yet to attend one of her sessions without walking away with valuable new insights. I'm grateful for the partnership between the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce, The Mill Workspace, and the TSBDC at the UT Martin REED Center in bringing this level of high-quality training to our community."
