Dyersburg, TN – August 13, 2025 – The Mill Workspace welcomed business professionals Tuesday evening, August 12, for its “Intro to Excel: Building Your Foundation” workshop, held in downtown Dyersburg at 217 S. Mill Ave. The session ran from 5:30–7 p.m. and offered attendees a practical, beginner-friendly guide to mastering Microsoft Excel.
Leading the workshop was Amber Brandau, a graduate of the University of Tennessee–Martin and longtime educator with Dyersburg State Community College, the American Job Center, and the Workforce Development Center. Brandau possesses more than a decade of experience helping individuals build the skills needed for career advancement. Her experience provided attendees with a comprehensive and easy to understand breakdown for navigating Excel.
During the workshop, key learning outcomes included navigating worksheets, entering and formatting data, and applying basic formulas and functions for simple calculations. Brandau also walked the group through tools like formatting options, AutoSum, and conditional formatting—features that make organizing and analyzing business data more efficient.
Attendees were encouraged to bring their laptops for a more immersive and interactive learning experience. Many said they left the workshop feeling more confident in their ability to incorporate Excel into their day-to-day business operations.
One participant said they enjoyed how in-depth and comprehensive the workshop was. Another participant said they enjoyed how hands-on the workshop was, noting how Brandau offered a downloadable file so attendees could follow along easily.
