Dyersburg, TN – August 28, 2025 – Millington couple Jennifer and Larry Hobson, owners of Llama’s Diner, are bringing their signature flavors and fresh menu items across Northwest Tennessee. The Hobsons own not one, but two food trucks. They first hit the road in 2024 with Llama’s Frozen Sweets, serving up 34 flavors of dairy ice cream and crowd favorites like strawberry cheesecake shakes. In 2025, they expanded their venture with the launch of a second truck, Llama’s Diner.
Their journey into the food truck industry began after shifting away from a long career running an inflatable bounce house business. After 13 years as business owners, Jennifer and Larry knew they still wanted to be their own bosses. The transition came naturally when their youngest daughter—interested in culinary arts—turned 16 and wanted to enter the workforce.
Larry and Jennifer say every business venture they’ve taken on has been inspired by their children, and the food truck was no different.
“When our youngest daughter was 4, she loved bounce houses, so that’s how we got into that business,” said Jennifer.
“When she turned 16 and aged out of bounce houses, we decided to get a food truck,” added Larry. “I’m only here a short time and then I die. My job as a parent is to provide opportunities for them.”
Larry says their youngest daughter is now attending the University of Memphis to study culinary arts. Even the name Llama’s was family-inspired. Jennifer said the children’s book “Llama Llama Mad at Mama” was a favorite of her daughters and sparked the idea for their brand.
The Hobsons say what sets their food apart is a focus on freshness and quality in both food and service.
“Our food is cooked with love,” said Jennifer.
“Yes,” added Larry, “and it’s seasoned and served special.”
Like any small business, there are challenges. Larry says learning what works and what doesn’t has been part of the process, but he enjoys the friendly competition with other food trucks and the push to keep improving. Jennifer says the food truck community has become like family and she’s grateful for the support system they’ve found.
Llama’s Diner regularly serves communities in Tipton County and has a busy fall schedule that includes the Big Balloon Festival in September and Boat Days in August. The truck typically travels within a 90-mile radius of Millington, but the Hobsons extend their reach up to 120 miles for large festivals and special events.
Jennifer and Larry have been married 31 years and are the proud parents of Kimberly (25) and Kaitlyn (18).
