Dyersburg, TN - September 2, 2025 - Las Morenas Mexican Food started in 2023, making its first appearance at Dogwood Brazilian Jiu Jitsu’s annual St. Jude tournament at White Squirrel Winery in Kenton. The Dyersburg-based venture is run by family members Rosa Ramirez, Alva Malamatos, Rosa Cantera, and Alejandra Mauricio.
The business is known for its signature quesabirrias and steak tacos, along with agua frescas and fruit bowls. Everything on the menu is made fresh and served at pop-up events, as the operation is currently running out of Ramirez’s home.
Balancing full-time jobs while building a customer base has been a challenge, but the family hopes to invest in a food truck by 2026. For now, word of mouth has been their biggest driver of business.
For the three women, the motivation is simple: they love to cook and find joy in watching people enjoy their food. The compliments and support they’ve received so far keep them inspired to push forward.
