Dyersburg, TN - November 7, 2025 - What started as a simple idea in 2021 has quickly grown into one of West Tennessee’s most talked-about food trucks. Kickin’ it wit Keemie, founded by Akeem “Keemie” Ramsey and his wife, Brittney, hit the streets in 2022, but its story began much earlier, right in the Ramseys’ own kitchen.
“We started out just cooking from home,” Keemie said. “It took off faster than we ever expected.”
Before long, the couple had purchased their food truck and were serving up plates full-time, traveling across their hometown of Trenton, TN, and within a 45-mile radius to feed hungry fans. Their food truck quickly became a local favorite, known for big flavor, generous portions, and the energy that follows them wherever they go.
Now, the Ramseys are preparing for their next big step, and are opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Trenton at 421 East Armory Street, set to open in the coming weeks.
Cooking has always come naturally to Keemie. His love for food turned serious after a friendly cooking competition among friends landed him two Top 3 finishes, and the confidence to take his skills to the next level. Brittney, who started out as his “assistant,” now plays an essential role in every part of the business. Together, they juggle cooking, managing, marketing, and raising their twin two-year-old daughters, Kinley and Kiley.
The couple’s signature dish: the Philly steak and cheese sandwich. However, the staple of the business are the crispy Philly egg rolls.
“Philly natives have complimented me on my authenticity and flavor profile that reminds them of home,” Keemie said.
But for the Ramseys, it’s about more than just good food. Both are deeply involved in ministry, and they see their food truck as an extension of their faith. The food truck is our rolling ministry, and their love of God is reflected in everything they do, from the way they serve customers to the positive atmosphere they create.
“You’re not just getting food,” said Keemie. “You’re getting an experience—memories, smiles, interactions.”
Of course, running a food truck isn’t without its challenges. The couple points to rising food costs and the demands of running every part of the business themselves, including marketing, management, inventory, and more. Still, they wouldn’t trade the journey for anything.
When asked what advice they’d give aspiring food truck owners, Keemie’s words were simple but wise: “Just do it! But realize that not every dollar you make is a dollar you can spend.” Brittney added, “Plan ahead.”
The Ramseys credit their success to their 45,000-strong social media following, consistency, quality, and outstanding customer service. They love the freedom that being small business owners has granted them and appreciate everyone who has supported them in their journey.
