Dyersburg, TN - December 17, 2025 - Jacob Abair, owner of Tigrett Outdoors, launched his business in 2022—but the idea really began when Abair was only 22.

"There was a product I wanted for my wakeboard boat. It was a product that held a wakeboard onto a tower,” Abair explained.

“The price was $259. I didn't want to pay that so I called the manufacturer and asked if I could buy it direct from them and they said I would need an EIN and a tax id number, so I figured out what those things were, and I called him back. They asked where I was going to sell the products and I hadn't even thought that far ahead, so I said, 'How about eBay and Amazon?' and they said they didn't want their products on eBay or Amazon so I couldn't sell for them. “I made a list of ten different wakeboard product manufacturers and just called through the list and the last company on the list was called Fly High. They said, 'You can't sell our new products on eBay and Amazon, but you can sell our factory seconds.' So I started selling factory seconds. Well, I called Skyline back and said Hey, I sell for Skyline Fly High (which was a direct competitor). Can I sell for you too?' They said absolutely. So, then I went back to Fly High and said I was selling Sky Line's full range of products, can I sell yours as well? And that started my first e-commerce business in the wakeboarding industry."

Abair’s first taste of entrepreneurship gave him the confidence to expand—and eventually led to the creation of Tigrett Outdoors, a business focused on high-performance, affordable gear for tactical and civilian use. Today, he serves customers across the globe, with strong followings in Canada and European countries.

Much of Tigrett Outdoors’ work centers around solving common frustrations in communication gear—like push-to-talk radios, electronic earmuffs, and other devices used in tactical situations or emergency response. Abair said the problem wasn’t that these products didn’t exist—it’s that they were often priced far out of reach.

Good, high-quality gear on the market was often priced between $600 and $900.

"We set out to create a product that would give similar user function at a much lower price.”

Abair says what makes Tigrett Outdoors different is how intentionally the gear is designed. Every piece of equipment is developed with real user experience in mind.

He and his team study customer feedback and product reviews in detail before finalizing any design. The goal is to eliminate common errors and ensure every product hits a high mark for quality, integrity, and customer satisfaction.

Their mission is clear: make reliable, affordable communication tools accessible for everyone—especially for those operating in high-stakes environments.

“To help civilians communicate in tactical environments as well as during times of emergency. Our vision is to make communicating over wireless radios simple for the customer by providing affordable communication to every person in the world.”

To deliver on that promise, Tigrett Outdoors offers customers the option to have their gear pre-programmed before shipping. This plug-and-play setup helps eliminate hassle and confusion.

Abair says that kind of personal customer support is what truly drives him.

"One of my favorite things to do is talk to customers," said Abair. "I have customers call or send messages that require a long reply, and I just pick up the phone and call. They are blown away that the founder of this company is calling them. That is my absolute favorite thing to do. More than create products. More than launching the website. It's communicating with customers. And it's sometimes simple and sometimes complicated."

At the heart of Tigrett Outdoors is the company’s flagship product—the SMC cable—a piece of equipment Abair first built in his living room.

"I was holding Walker's electronic earmuffs, and I was holding a Bellaphone two-way radio on the market. I wanted to make the radio communicate through the Walker's [earmuffs] and there was nothing on the market that could do that, so I designed a cable that essentially has auxiliary output for the sound. it plugs into the side of the radio. It has push-to-talk, and a microphone built into it. So, with our cable, a set of Walker's and a Bellaphone radio, you have a fully functioning communication setup. $35 for cable. Original design.”

The SMC cable helps protect hearing while enabling seamless radio communication—especially valuable for law enforcement, tactical shooters, airsoft players, and preppers.

Tigrett Outdoors products are available online at tigrettod.com or on Amazon under the Tigrett Outdoors name.
