R. Alan Ingalls (pictured above) hosted a beginner's podcast workshop at The Mill on July 2. The workshop provided information on gear, post-production, conceptualization, and more.

Dyersburg, TN – July 6, 2026 - The Mill Workshop recently welcomed aspiring podcasters and business owners for a hands-on workshop, Starting a Podcast, led by local cinematographer R. Alan Ingalls. Designed for beginners, the session broke down the podcasting process into simple, manageable steps while also introducing more advanced production techniques for those looking to elevate their content.

Ingalls emphasized that creating a successful podcast doesn't require an expensive studio or complicated equipment. Instead, participants learned how to start with the tools they already have and upgrade their setup as their audience and experience grow.

Throughout the workshop, attendees explored how to develop a podcast concept, create a consistent production workflow, and navigate the recording and post-production process. Ingalls also discussed equipment options, editing software, publishing strategies, and ways businesses can use podcasting as a tool to connect with customers and build their brand.

In addition to the technical aspects of podcasting, the workshop highlighted common mistakes made by first-time podcasters, including inconsistent publishing schedules and recording habits, while offering practical tips for creating high-quality, engaging content from the start.

This workshop reflects The Mill Workspace's commitment to equipping entrepreneurs with practical skills to tell their stories, expand their reach, and grow their businesses.
