The Mill Workspace and the Milan Chamber of Commerce recently partnered with Hargett Materials to host an Intro to Excel workshop in Gibson County.

Milan, TN - August 26, 2026 - The Mill Workspace and the Milan Chamber of Commerce recently partnered to bring business leaders, managers, and owners a workshop dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of Excel. The “Intro to Excel: Building Your Foundation” workshop was held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The workshop was held at Hargett Materials, located at 6012 Windsor Drive, Milan, TN.

Leading the workshop was Amber Brandau. A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, Brandau has been an educator at Dyersburg State Community College and the American Job Center for over a decade, where she serves as Director of Purchasing and Contracts. Brandau has also spent the past five years helping individuals gain the skills needed for career advancement in her teaching role at the Workforce Development Center.

This beginner-friendly workshop was designed to allow learners to build a solid understanding of worksheets. Participants learned to navigate the Excel interface, enter and format data, and use basic formulas and functions to perform simple calculations.

Many in attendance agreed the workshop provided a comprehensive overview, making a very dense subject easier to understand and apply.

"We are excited to start FY27 with strong partnerships across the region. We have several amazing workshops to offer across the nine counties in our service area that are all perfect for businesses of any size," said The Mill Community Manager Rachel Townsend. "We look forward to rolling out more of these opportunities in the months to come."
