Dyersburg, TN - September 11, 2026 - If you are considering turning your favorite homemade recipes into a small business, understanding Tennessee’s cottage food laws is a good place to start. The Mill Workspace is partnering with the University of Tennessee Extension, Tennessee State University Extension, Dyersburg-Dyer County Chamber of Commerce, and Main Street Dyersburg Farmers Market to offer a workshop focused on the basics of Tennessee’s cottage food laws.
The “Learning the Basics of Cottage Food Laws” workshop will be held Thursday, September 24, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Main Street Dyersburg Farmers Market, located at 335 Clark Ave. in Dyersburg. The workshop will focus on the Tennessee Food Freedom Act and what entrepreneurs need to understand when starting or growing a cottage food business.
Mike Brown, Food Business Consultant with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, will lead the session. Participants will learn more about the requirements for cottage food businesses and what they need to know before selling homemade food products.
Whether you are already selling food products or have an idea you would like to turn into a business, this workshop is a chance to learn the basics and get your questions answered.
The cost to attend is $10, and registration is required.
This workshop is being offered through a partnership between The Mill Workspace, UT Extension, Tennessee State University Extension, Dyersburg-Dyer County Chamber of Commerce, and Main Street Dyersburg Farmers Market.
